Filthy Fact

The UK produces 420 million tonnes of solid waste every year. That's the weight of 5 cars for each person every year. We only recycle 11% of it. (Source: The Green parent website)

Recycle Bins

Thanks to kerbside recycling, Cardiff now recycles around 600 tonnes of waste every week.

By April 11th 2007, the entire city should have either wheelie bins or green bags to recycle their waste in. This is almost a year ahead of schedule and puts Cardiff in place to meet the Assembly-set target of recycling 40% of its waste.

This has been made possible by doubling shifts at Cardiff’s MRF, Lamby Way. There are now two 11 hour shifts, to work through all of the waste.
